The product had dents in it upon arrival and it has a rusty layer near some of the holes. I would have returned it but I already had to wait days due to a shipping delay so I made it work.
It was easy to understand the instructions, just physically hard to put together. I would strongly suggest using more fore sight. The bottom piece that the ladder will attach to has a tiny hole. Make sure that It is facing your ceiling and THEN make sure that the holes for the ladder are near the back of the bunk bed and then make sure the top ones will align. I had to flip and flop this piece SO many times!!
It moves a lot when there is someone on top (54lb give year old) or climbing on top, but it seems pretty safe and sturdy. (The manual says 200lbs on top and 450 on bottom). It came with spacer lock things for the slats, so that helps the mattress from sagging and prying apart the slats.
The rail for this bed is about level with my sons mattress with his 3 foam topper. We have a safety rail added to it for mommas comfort.
It took me probably 3/4 hours to put together. That included me trying to wrangle and 15 year old and a break for pizza while doing the assembly all alone.
I really like that the color, it is more gray and not silver, it looks more neutral and masculine for my boys room.
It comes with 2 ladders that are bolted on. The ladders have rounded steps, like a tube. Im pointing this out because some ready to assemble beds, such as the last loft bed I assembled have square ones that are brutal on your feet!
Its not too tall. Theres a decent amount of space from top to ceiling and from bottom bunk to the top bunk. Theres also a good amount of space under it which could give you a lot of storage!
Im giving only 3 stars due to just how big of a pain it was to put together and because of the rust and dents. I would suggest this style of bed, but If you have a way to do it, I would suggest to pick it up in a store and to make your man do it. My husband would have helped, but my stubborn self needed it now. Oh how I wish I wouldve waited!
Good bed, pain in the rear to assemble!
