I stained my bed frame and sealed it and it was easy to do. The metal takes paint and stain well. Its very sturdy and doesnt move. My mattress will move if pushed kind of hard though. You could always add more metal to brace it, I have a full so its kind of light but my mom has a king with the same frame and it doesnt move.
