Fairly Sturdy and as Expected Build, but Missing Parts
The unit looks nice overall. Its a piece of cheap, assemble yourself furniture, so expect all the assembly methods used as seen in others. Once assembled, it is fairly sturdy for what it is. I have no reservations sitting 200lbs on the bench. Its a bit shorter than I expected, but I am only assembling it for someone and didnt do the measuring for the location.
Assembly took about an hour, and I have a drill bit to use instead of the included hex wrench. Ive also assembled many pieces of furniture. I would recommend having a drill with small bit as I took the precaution of pilot drilling for some of the small screws. Most of them had pilots, but one particular area did not. I also had to relocate the pilots on the bench cover spring mounts since the provided pilots required the spring arm to be pushed to the side rather than kept in line with the mount to the base. These modifications are minor, but theres no excuse for having to do them. There are straps to strap the top to the wall, but Im choosing to forgo putting mounts in the wall since the base seems plenty sturdy, and the house is full of adults that wont be pulling things off the hooks from the bottom of the garment.
Be patient with assembly. Keep your drill on low torque, or use the hand hex wrench if yours doesnt have a clutch. Use a hand screw driver for all the Philips head screws, and re-pilot holes before forcing them. Philips can strip easily if you go too fast. This isnt anything against the product, just advice from experience.
My package was missing 1 screw for the coat hooks, and 1 wood plug. I believe they should include 3 more wood plugs for the bench cover mounting holes, but the instructions dont list that quantity. I also broke 3 of the 4 and bent the other twist lock for the risers. The directions have web and phone contacts for sending spare parts within the first 30 days of purchase. I will be ordering extra quanities of all the parts I need. This rating assumes that I dont have trouble getting those parts. Ill be careful with my locks this time (although they should spend a few more cents and use better steel), and anticipate it going together just fine.
