Very attractive and sturdy. To attach base to chair, place upside down and push black metal plates in opposite directions from each other. Spent two hours trying to fit my fingers in/between plates to attach small bolts and they actually slide apart to match up bolt holes, felt stupid when I discovered it went together so easily. Love the chair.
