This bed is beautiful, but wow is it hard to set up
This bed is beautiful, but wow is it hard to set up. Im almost set up (just havent yet set up the slats that go below the mattress) and though Im generally pretty good at setting things up, this was difficult. I did set it up myself without help (pressing against some walls for support) but I have to say the directions are terrible. Follow the pictures - they are good, but the order of the directions is not the easiest way to do things. I found that working roughly from the bottom up for each side was much easier. The hardest part is getting those beautiful slats to line up - I wonder if glueing them in advance would be easier. What I did was set up the headboard/footboard/middle part from the bottom up and saved putting in the slats for last - it was much easier than trying to move the piece with the slats in them once they are in place. It also seems like the slats under the mattress are too flimsy, so I may put some sturdier pieces of wood under there. So give yourself plenty of time, and plenty of patience, and if you are working with someone else, dont make any hasty decisions about divorce.
