Easy to assemble and Great Bed (if you purchase additional slats)

I just recently purchased a different brand bed from a different on/line furniture company. As I was assembling that bed, I kept saying to myself, I wish I got another Zinus. I am no stranger to assembling furniture or doing handy work around the house but the other product I purchased was a real pain to assemble. I understand why some folks complain about the sturdiness of this product. If you are using a foam mattress or a mattress without a bedspring, you really need to have supplemental slats (sells fabric wrapped slats that go perpendicular to the slats on the bed that Id recommend). The bed comes with a hand ratchet tool (rather than an L/shaped hex tool) that makes assembly fast and easy. I had no issues with the bed being out of alignment or feeling flimsy as other people stated, which means I either had better luck with manufacturing quality OR that the product wasnt fully setup properly by the customer (there are adjustable screws in the middle support feet that should be adjusted to the proper height and touch the floor). Also, as with all of these things, as you assemble, you should start by only loosely tightening the bolts, then prior to putting the slats in place, start at the corners and tighten the corners opposite of each other (for example, if looking at the headboard: headboard right, footboard left), then tighten the remaining corners, THEN go back and re/check the tightness of all of the bolts (dont go cry, but a relatively normal amount of pressure until the bolt no longer moves). If I had to do it all over again, Id get another one of these beds and NOT the Novogratz that I purchased as a second bed. Prior to the Zinus, I had purchased a beautiful bed from a high end store on sale for about 1600. It was a great bed and I loved the design of it, but it was not worth over 5X the cost of the Zinus. Dont forget to buy the additional slats (Annemarie Slats) to make sure you have a stable foundation for a foam or non/boxspring supported mattress. Theyre not cheap (especially when you consider the cost of the bed), but will help ensure that your bed and mattress stays in good shape for a long time.
