This item is as advertised. It is not soft but it shouldnt be as it is an ottoman that will be used frequently. I would describe the bed as firm but not hard. I slept on it and was not achy or stiff, however I recognize that we are all individual people and this is only my opinion. Its a great option for a guest bed. I will be purchasing another one.
