Ok, lets be real. If youre seriously considering getting this couch then you are probably in the market for a sectional and your budget is limited. When it comes to furniture, you really get what you pay for, so if youre considering a budget couch there are going to be some concessions you have to make. A couch is a big purchase so Im going to try to list out the pros and cons here so you can decide if these particular concessions are something you can live with.
For reference Ive had this for 6 months and its my only couch, and during a recent remodel it was even my bed. Im a 5 7 female around 150lbs with one adult 80lb dog. Ive also been home pretty much all day every day for the last year due to the pandemic. So this has gotten a fair amount wear.
PROS:
1. Probably the cheapest, or one of the cheapest, fully sectionals out there. The versatility and look is similar to companies like Home Reserve and Love Sac, but its half the price.
2. Every piece comes with storage big enough for blankets, pillows, books, etc. making it perfect for small spaces. The storage area is also lined and basically a solid box, which gives it points over Home Reserve. The hinges seem high quality and they keep the lid open on their own so it wont slam down on head or hands.
3. For me, it came WAY faster than estimated. It said Id have to wait 40 days, I think I waited 1/2 weeks tops. The arms and backs shipped separately and arrived the following day.
4. Since you can easily remove the arms and backs, you can continue to switch pieces around so it wears more evenly. I try to rotate them every week or two.
5. The is much more comfortable than I expected. The pics make it look like that itchy tweed type of upholstery, but it is soft and very comfy.
6. It comes with pegs that hold the pieces together and they are a cinch to pop in and out. I dont have a problem with it sliding across the carpet, but before I got my rug it would slip and slide all over my hardwood without the pegs attached.
7. When you put all six pieces together, it is pretty much a perfect American full sized bed. Ive slept on it a lot and had adult guests sleep on it. Ive even slept on it with my boyfriend and dog, and while not the most comfy, it gets the job done and doesnt weigh 12 tons like a pull out.
8. This is absolutely perfect for apartments and small spaces. Each piece is very light weight and easy to move around to accommodate innumerous set ups. I have an awkward corner with a bump out and door and this fits pretty perfectly where no other couch would. I love that I can put all the pieces together for a perfect movie/conversation pit or pull the s out for a more normal couch set up.
9. Its very lightweight and since the arms and backs can be easily removed, it was no problem to carry each piece up multiple flights of stairs into my narrow apartment door by myself. Ill probably be moving out of state soon and Im so glad I got this couch just because its that easy to pack and move.
10. So far this has been really easy to clean. I scotchguarded the heck out of it when I first got it and so far my dog hasnt had any accidents on it (fingers crossed). But even if he did, I think this would hold up well under the strain of an upholstery shampooer. The and the fact that you can remove the backs and arms makes this super easy to vacuum and get all the dog fur out of it.
11. The design is very smart but simple. If you arent afraid of DIY or you have some upholstery experience, this would not be a difficult couch to repair, reupholster, or modify. Honestly, thats the primary reason I got this particular couch. I know I can easily repair it when it inevitably breaks down, meaning this couch will probably be with me for decades.
CONS:
1. It isnt the most comfortable. It was a bit firm at first, which I like, but I feel like the foam is breaking down quickly. I rotate the pieces regularly to prevent uneven wear, but several pieces are starting to look askew with the foam starting to slope at the corners. Its not a big deal, but Im worried Ill have to recushion and reupholster this sooner than expected. If you sit too close to the edge of a piece, you can kinda feel your butt hit the wood under the cushion. If you have several pets, have rambunctious kids, or are big and tall/ this probably wont last more than a few years as your sole sofa.
2. As other reviewers have mentioned, the arms and backs slide in with 2 small metal pins. This makes them easy to take apart, but it isnt the most sturdy option. Its fine if your couch is up against a wall, but if it is going to be in the middle of a room you will feel the backs and arms wobble as you move. My brother is over 300lbs and has a bad habit of pushing off against the arms of furniture when standing or sitting. I could see somebody like that just demolishing those flimsy pins, ripping them right out.
3. Im not sure what part is causing it, but some pieces do creak quite a bit when youre moving around. Its a little annoying because it sounds like an old pirate ship, but it makes me worried something internally is breaking down as it didnt do that straight out of the box.
4. The lining on the under side and inside of the storage compartment is pretty poor. Its flimsy and stapled in right at the very edge, so several areas of the have already slipped or ripped out of the staples. If I dont restaple it, itll start to sag soon.
5. The legs are absolute garbage. They look fine considering you cant really see them and you dont have to use them at all if you are ok with it sitting on the ground. But they are very thin, hollow plastic and one even cracked when I twisted it on. They also constantly come loose and spin to the side so Im always retightening them. I think Im going to just buy real wooden legs soon.
6. The design is smart and simple, but not common. Each piece is basically a giant upholstered cube and they just dont make slipcovers like that. Ive been trying to find a slipcover that would fit for a while now and really cant. I may have to make my own to help keep dog fur at bay and so I dont have to vacuum it every week.
7. This isnt consistently stocked and the backs and arms are not consistently stocked. I wanted to buy additional backs for this so I can make it like a genuine conversation pit, but I dont know when or if theyll be back. With other companies making sofas, the pieces are pretty much made to order so you know even years from now you can order additional or replacement parts.
Overall, since its just me and my dog we use our furniture a lot but dont abuse it. Im not sure this is the best option for big families, heavy set or tall people, or people with young kids or multiple pets who will really beat up furniture. At least not as their only or primary sofa if they want it to last for years. Since I dont fall into one of those categories, Im still really glad I bought it and think it is worth putting up with the few cons. I love the versatility and overall design so much that I fully plan on repairing it rather than replacing it when the time comes. If I could have afforded one of the expensive customizable sofa brands, I probably would have gone that route. But I cant afford to drop several grand on a similar set up so Im really glad I found . I really look forward to coming home at the end of the day and sprawling out in my couch pit with my guy and my dog to watch movies. I love knowing that I can rearrange this into dozens of configurations for just about any size space or situation. Everybody who has seen it loves it and asks where I got it. My mom has even decided to buy this same set up for herself.
The bottom line is this is absolutely, 100 the best fully sectional with storage that you can get for the money. If you are on a budget this will be the best home purchase you make in years. I would love to see stock this more consistently or even expand into other colors and design options because they could take these other sofa companies out. Periodt.
