Love the look of this bed! The velvet seems soft and a beautiful grey color. We used it with just the mattress and no spring box. The spring box (which is a low profile one) would have not left enough visible headboard. Feels sturdy and we like the low profile look of it. Good value for money. The reason I am giving a 4/star rating is because the bed frame is a bit wider than a full size mattress and I wish it were a couple of inches smaller. However, really nice bed. We used for my teenagers room. I am very happy with it
