I came close to not purchasing this due to the numerous review comments about the arduous assembly process. Ultimately, with additional searching of similar product, I came back to this bench/storage rack. With enough past experiences assembling plenty of similar furniture-type products, I made the purchase and awaited its arrival.
I opened the box, and yes, there are many board/wood pieces along with plenty of metal attachments and hardware. Im the type to lay out everything in order (e.g., alpha/numerical). My carpet work space was filled with the board/wood pieces in letter order and the metal pieces in number order; and I kept everything in that order, as applicable as pieces were used up, from instruction manual number one to the very last instruction. If you do this, and follow the instructions, this is not a complicated piece to put together. It was a bit unwieldy for certain steps because I worked on it alone, but this was nowhere near the hardest piece of furniture I have assembled. Take your time, keep the pieces organized, and you will get it done with relative ease.
The finished product is very nice. It stands against the wall. Plenty of coats hanging. Shoes stored in the bench. I have come to accept the white sheen will get dirty, but two weeks in, with plenty of traffic, it still looks new. No regrets (so far) with the purchase.
