The bed came in a very damaged box, I think because its so heavy and the delivery driver had trouble with it. But the contents were fine inside thankfully because it was packed just well enough, but not super.
Assembly was ok but it took at least 1.5 hours to do with some extra hands for some of the steps.
The two areas of true frustration were the slats and the headboard attaching to the body of the bed.
The slats have Velcro on one side which Velcros to a wooden piece you attach around step 1 or 2 and they dont tell you to install the wooden piece Velcro side up, but we did and it was fine. It should be shown though in the instructions. However the slats are very thin and look to be easily snapped if you have any kind of jump or foot placement on them by accident when the mattress is on top. Nothing broke but I worry every time my son steps on the mattress.
The headboard attaching to the frame is nearly impossible with the screws provided for that step. The screws are too short. The alignment of the screws with the pre drilled holes is a blind alignment step and since the screws are too short to easily catch the hole, you have to squeeze the frame to the headboard and hope you are aligned or you put unnecessary holes in the leather. Please please make these screws a little longer so this step (which is near the end of the whole assembly and your sweaty and tired) can be successfully completed without major issues, cursing, and damage to the covering. Thanks! Otherwise its totally a cool bed.
Cool looking and lights are nice!
