Directions are terrible - but a beautiful product

The directions for these bar stools are terrible, and as a result, one of them is unusable for me. Its a lot more complex than it looks and more complex than these reviews make it out to be. You have to screw four screws into holes - and you must be very careful the size of the screws to the holes as it is not explained well. If you cant screw it in, you picked the wrong hole. A good rule of thumb is to set it up where the screws and holes are in their places before you screw. They do provide you with a screwdriver of sorts to use and gloves, which you will need as part of the device is greasy. You also must be very careful to place the chair in the right direction when screwing it or you wont have a properly positioned foot rest. Place it where it says FRONT. I had to unscrew and screw it in again because I messed that up. But the worst part of the directions is that it doesnt explain the importance of the plasticy thing on the end of the thing that makes the chair go up and down. You are to REMOVE that plasticy thing before you start. It looks like a cap of toothpaste. If you dont remove it, you will have an ok bar stool but it wont go up and down and really wont be as steady as it should be. I removed the thing on one chair and not the other so I saw the difference. As a result of my dumb mistake I am actually going to purchase the item separately so I can have two working chairs, versus one that works and one that doesnt. You also must be sitting in the chair to make it go down (but not to make it go up). It is very comfortable, cushion wise and I felt it supported my weight well, though I imagine you could fall out of it if you were trying or really not careful. Overall a fine product that could have been excellent (and cost me a lot less money) with EASY TO FOLLOW directions. Which it did not have.
