I definitely would not have paid more than 249 (including shipping) a piece but over all these are not bad chairs. It seems strange that the price fluctuates so much but maybe someone would be willing to pay more than retail of 249. The fabric is soft and the swivel glider parts are very nice for the quality of chair. Excellent quality and Excellent choice
