The whole piece is very sturdy and I am very pleased with the overall quality. I wanted a low profile bed for a smaller bedroom, and this totally fits the bill. I had never had a bed that didnt take a box spring before, so I was a little worried about that, but my husband and I find it to be very comfortable.
