I was a metal frame/box springs person for 30 years. I just did not realize there was such a thing as a platform bed (I know, I know, my interior design skills are abysmal). When we went to replace our old mattress, our new mattress was about 4 inches thicker, which is a lot. When it went onto the frame and box spring it was simply too high, I felt like Queen Elizabeth climbing in and out of bed. I had no idea what to do so I stumbled upon platform beds after some research. I checked out my local furniture stores and the selection of platform beds was pretty poor. I was looking for something sturdy and simple with no drawers underneath. I have a dog that loves to sleep under the bed, so there needed to be some type of clearance.
I measured exactly what height I needed for the platform to be and ordered this unit. It is easy to assemble and looks great. The cross pieces definitely make this nice and sturdy. Really good quality for a really good price-I would buy this again. And I no longer use a silly bedskirt to hide the ugly metal legs of the frame, since this is so attractive.
