We were pleasantly surprised to receive a frame we thought it was wood. Its all ! Excellent for our little one! He is a strong heavy boy for 3 1/2 years. This bed is adorable and will last through the years of growth spurts! It was time consuming to assemble. Bring your patience and have a helper if possible to help hold things and bring screws to you. My niece and I sailed through assembly up to the underneath fastening the bottom screws it got tricky we had some screws that didnt want to start at all. We had to call my husband in to help. My son adores this bed and went right to sleep! He said Judahs Bed Hurray! I think he approves! Everything is nice!
