Its like an IKEA product: youre going to love and hate it at the same time. Assembly was not fun. Five hours later, the frame is pretty much put together with the exception of the drawers. We left the drawers alone for a couple weeks because wed had our fill of assembling a huge piece of furniture to last the rest of our lives.
All through the process we wondered why we needed a bed that could magically turn from a king to a twin. At least my mom was impressed when she saw it.
It creaks and the paint is not thick; you can see the knots in the wood. The outer pieces look flimsy but the whole thing stays together somehow. I wondered again why wed gotten rid of the bed frame we built using 2x6s and a Kreg jig.
The drawers were finally put together but they dont stay together. The front pieces want to come off so well have to gorilla glue or wood glue them and hope they dont fall apart.
All this for 400?! Please dont purchase this new. Look for a used one (buy mine, please!) so you get all the benefits of this frame without losing your mind first.
