This picture was before putting a box spring... IT DOES NEED a box spring. I bought it alone to see if it would hold the mattress weight and it fell, but then, I found a great deal on a box spring here on , and when It arrived and we put it, the bed frame felt really good, it wont make any noise, it kept it from drowning, and it looks even taller! This is a great product overall, it just needs adjustment that you can simply fix with a box spring. Its a beautiful product.
