Given its height and small footprint I would definitely fasten it to the wall if used in a childs room.
More substantial than similar Ikea units. Most of the construction is particle board although the sides of the drawers are wood.
Very spacious and looks great. I paid for someone to assemble through , which was well worth the 89 cost. Drawers are sturdy and glide easily and the bottom two drawers are larger for storage if sheets, blankets, etc. very happy with this purchase.
