Very sturdy bed frame, but it was a bit heavy to fold the bed back so I just left it open Since it seems hard to fold for someone with weak arms or is old. I think its a 2 man job to put this together. It looks a bit big too when I did fold the frame back together.
I just put this bed together, it took a couple of hours and is only mildly frustrating. I havent slept on it yet to see how it holds up. I gave it 4 stars because so far I like it and am glad I bought it, would buy it again. It seems sturdy and well made. I didnt give it 5 stars because I think all 12 screws that screw in yourself were not aligned so you had to drill your own holes for the screws, being careful not to drill into the dowels that are underneath. (there are a lot of dowels, and 12 screws). The instructions say you need a screwdriver, but I needed an electric drill, screwdriver, and mallet. All of the dowel holes were in the right place, which would have been harder to fix yourself if they werent. The other problem that would have been nice to have fixed, is the screws are not sunk in and sit on top of the wood, so im not sure if that will rip into my mattress or not. It seems so well made that im not sure why they were sort of careless on these 2 issues. Also, it folds up nicely and easily.
There is a weak spot. This is the second futon that the hinge piece that is rectangular with the top corners curved cracked in half. Please send me a few replacements as I order 20+ per year.
It arrived very fast which is great. Unlike some of the negative reviews on instructions I thought it was easy enough, especially if you pay good attention everything is mentioned there (not the best graphics though). However, make sure you have a drill for making holes cause almost all of the screw holes on my item were missing. If you had a drill its a quick process. Im a woman and not that experienced with these things but I Handled it easily and without help. Not sure how sturdy it is yet til our guest tries it. Will hopefully keep you posted.
Everything was great about it the look, the height, its actually real wood (tulip poplar), one has the option to stain it or not (as it comes unfinished which is ok to leave as such with this type of wood manual explains all of this which I appreciated), and, lastly, it was very straight forward to put together with instructions (I did it myself 5months pregnant). The ONLY but pretty major con is its SUPER CREAKY . Were keeping it for our daughters room, but what a bummer.
It looks nicer than the metal in the same price range, but Its not as sturdy as I had hoped. The bed frame squeaks every time I get in or out of the bed. Its pretty bulky and heavy when folded, so its not easy to transport with just one person. I also had back pain after using this bedframe for 2 months. Im currently considering adding a piece of ply wood on top of the slats and beneath the mattress for more support. For the record Im 53 and 125lbs.
Assembly was not fun, but after I figured it out and put it all together was happy with the result. Very nice, clean looking platform for my memory foam mattress. Solid wood pieces are a plus.
This bed frame is one of the first big purchases I made when I moved out on my own. Its not particularly stylish/attractive, but its a really functional piece of furniture and well crafted especially for the price. Its low rise and rather minimalistic which also fit the style of my space. Assembling this was a pretty frustrating experience, but otherwise its served me well so far. Get it!
