This was a pain to put together. The directions are pictures that, when followed, did not get the assembly done.
For context, I recently purchased a Zinus Heavy Duty Twin Frame requiring no tools - not even the mallet provided with this base. That was was one piece that only required hand-only tightening of the wing nuts to secure. Much easier! Unfortunately, the Zinus was just too high off the ground with my 12 mattress.
I searched for something 10-12 off the ground and found no manufacturer that had that height with the fabulous Zinus design/assembly. It is just an engineering issue it seems which is not s fault at all.
What I do fault for is the poor directions and the difficulty to get all of the pieces to fit and then hold. The pieces in this frame assembly are very lightweight.
I do not see how one person puts this together because two opposing parallel pieces have to stay upright for two more perpendicular pieces to be malleted in to create a box. Then this step is repeated to create the other end of the frame. BUT the pieces did not all fit together tightly and remain in place once I figured out that was the way to put it together.
If you follow the directions and put the 8 parallel slats in last (I needed the mallet and another person to get this far by the way) as the instructions show, you wont be able to get the pieces to fit. We had to keep pulling the frame apart to fit the slats in. Then we hammered the pieces into the grooves to fit securely. Every time we secured one section, it caused another section to pop out (whac-a-mole basically). We finally got it mostly straight deciding the weight from the mattress and the person on the bed would either force it to hold together or crash to the floor. So far, that educated guess paid off.
One other point, this design, by necessity it seems, cannot recess the legs of the bedframe so you can hit your legs on the edges and even the middle. I figured that out before I bought it after comparing pictures and reviews for hours. Hopefully, I can spare you that misery.
Final thought. I need this bedframe height but I dont like this frame for the reasons above. This is not s fault. All the other manufacturers have something just like this for this height. But, if you can go 14-18 high with your bedframe, then go with the Zinus Heavy Duty for a very easy to assemble, very sturdy, and recessed legs bedframe. I trust their representation of the weight their heavy duty frame holds. I do not trust this bedframes weight limit representation because the frame is too lightweight compared to heavy duty.
This was THE easiest bed I have ever put together! All the parts were quality pieces, and the bed is very sturdy/durable! The wooden slats were already put together using a Velcro system, so you just rolled them out, placed them in the right spot, and you’re done! There was no nailing or screwing each slat in place, and that was so nice!! We needed a simple twin bed for underneath my son’s loft bed, and this was perfect!
We were missing 1 important piece when the bed arrived. We called the manufacturer, and they responded very quickly, and had the part at my door within 3 business days! So, not only was the bed great, but the customer service received from the manufacturer exceeded my expectations!
Very happy with my purchase! Thanks!
We have had it for a few months and the middle leg under us randomly collapses. I loved it at first but now I hate it and want a new one. I’m sad because it def looks nice but the quality isn’t
Easy to assemble once u get out of box and oit of plastic...im a female, so me and my daughter put it together in 20 min after 20 min of getting out of plastic
I read reviews that said it didnt come with instructions and it was hard to put together. I put it together by myself with a 1-year-old on my lap so it wasnt hard and it came with instructions. The wood seems a little thin but it is holding up okay so far. I bought two beds for an eight-year-old and a 10-year-old. For the price, you cant really complain. Overall pretty happy.
