I had watched YouTube videos on the assembly of this bed before I opened the box. My room is very small and I wanted to be sure I had things facing the correct way straight out of the box or it would be difficult to correct later because of the tight space.
This must be a newer model because the two assembly videos I watched on the same brand showed wooden slats and side pieces, and this bed has slats (without side pieces on the frame) and are welded to the frame. In theory, this should make it sturdier and I believe it does. There is no wobbling or squeeking, it is solid.
I appreciate the fact that they included not only a standard allen wrench and simple directions, but a packet of spare screws of each size in case you lose one in your carpet during assembly or later on when you disassemble it to move. Even better, they also included an allen socket wrench to make assembly even faster and easier.
I placed the instructions, extra hardware, and tools in a ziploc bag and taped it to the frame for easy access when I decide to move.
I am a 55/ year/ old woman and put this thing together from unboxing to completion, by myself, in 20 minutes. Im very pleased with the ease of assembly and solid, quality feel of this frame.
The reason I only gave it 4 stars is because there is no lip around the frame to hold the mattress in place as in the previous model with the wood slats. I am hoping there will not be an issue with my mattress sliding around on it. If so, I will return to add that information to this review.
EDIT: I have had this frame for less than a week and have already stubbed my toes 4 times on the feet while walking around to make the bed. The legs are poorly placed at the very edge so that if your foot is even slightly under the bad (normal stance when making the bed) you will jam your toes into it if youre not extremely cognizant of exactly where the support legs are placed. OUCH.
Also, as I feared the mattress slides all over it as if the support slats have been greased with silicone. I will have to figure out some solution to stop the mattress from sliding, some sort of non/skid base, but as to the problem of my poor toes there is no help for that except extreme vigilance.
I have removed a star from my review for these reasons. I give it 3 stars for sturdiness and looks but I am otherwise disappointed in this frame. Just ok
This was the easiest to put together. First take out of the box, set on side open and lock the legs into place flip on its feet, do the same with the other one, and then lock in place with simple bols and wing nuts on each side. The little plastic spacer goes inbetween the frame, thats it. So simple! And its tough, not too heavy so you can move it if needed You need alot of patience to build this!
