Putting this thing together wasnt difficult, but did require a fair amount of space, since you want to be able to lay the pieces out beforehand. I put a couple of moving blankets on my floor, though some large flattened cardboard packing boxes would work, too, so as not to scratch the flooring. There is really only one tool required, which they supply (an allen key). Everything else went in fine for me by hand, except possibly the plugs, which I put in the wrong spots on a few occasions. I just pried those out with a pair of pliers, and reseated them by banging on them with the handle I think the instructions specified the wrong location for those once, but it was obvious where they went once I visualized how it went together.
The main issue for me was the weight of the second package, which I couldnt carry by myself. I cut it open and carried the pieces inside. I didnt need anyone elses help once I got the pieces laid out. Maybe would have been nice to have a helper when putting the seat and back pieces into the frame (next to last step), but not essential.
Ive slept on a folding-style futon for 30 years, so I had no issues figuring out how this one worked. Ive only slept on it one night, so I dont know durable it will be, but nothing seemed to creak or groan. It seems pretty solid.
It seems kind of flimsy but has held up the last 2.5 months with 6 crazy kids so I’d say it’s fairly durable. And it’s really comfortable for a futon. Worth the money in my opinion.
We actually just received the base itself not the mattress because the mattress is made to order and will be coming within 2 days. Will update once we put it together.
Update: Again we are currently waiting for the mattress itself but we have completed putting together the base (the first part was a little difficult because I felt like the instructions wasn’t very clear). There is a little scratch on one of the arm rest. When folding it back to a couch position, push forward a little from the back then pull up. But so far we like it!
Wood is very sturdy. Havent put it together yet since it seems the two packages got separated. But my main concern was the wood which Im pretty happy with.
Had to assemble myself. Was a bit tricky but went fast once I read through all of the instructions and made a couple of corrections to
the assembly. Pay attention to Back VS Seat location...stickers also...Parts fit together nicely and really no special tools needed. I had a bit/screwdriver that fit the bolts so was easier than using the provided hex wrench.
Purchased a memory foam futon mattress from that fits nicely and is really comfortable.
Inaccurate website and description of Futon. Showed a solid back and came with an open slat back. Company was willing for us to return but cost of shipping exceeded the price of the futon. DCG stated that they do not post the pictures, but does. customer service rep applied for our claim under the A to Z guarantee. Now has rejected this claim. We are stuck with this $608.00 product.

Beautiful sofa bed, quite comfortable and modern style. It is an excellent option to use if necessary without the need to buy an extra piece of furniture. The material looks good quality, semi-thick and the full sofa isn’t too heavy, so you can move it and assemble it yourself if you do not have help. It is easy to assemble, it includes manual but it is quite basic, without much explanation. It includes an L key to install the screws. The measurements are perfect, it doesnt take up much space and its not too small either. I like the idea of accommodating the edges where the arm is placed, you can adjust it to your liking, as well as the backrest. It’s great that it folds out to a bed in case you have company over and a need an extra place to sleep.
Very nice piece of furniture. Well made and sturdy, heavy wood. Wood color as shown and good appealing color, Blends well with other furniture. Takes a bit of time to put together, instructions not too clear, but all worth it. End result is a great looking futon.
