The bowl is easy to install and clean. It comes off the crate easily. In fact, it so easy, my 4 month old lab routinely pulls it loose. He usually finishes whatever is in it, then pulls it off, dumps out the metal bowl and chews on the plastic parts. We have a cheaper, smaller crate bowl, that this replaced and hes never managed to pull that one off. I have tried multiple mounting locations and methods, but the plastic knob eventually pulls off the screw threads. This is a good bowl for smaller, less active breeds.
I specifically purchased these over the others as the details state You wont have to worry about a rambunctious pet knocking this bowl out of place, as it attaches to the cage with a metal plate and wingnut. That is not the case, they are plastic. I assumed the flower threaded piece had a metal insert and attached to a metal thread. It seems rather deceptive advertising.
I bought this item to replace a water bowl that had rusted, was difficult to remove, and tended to sit on a tilt no matter how I adjusted it.
The small size bowl is SMALL to be sure, but in my case that is what I was looking for. It attached to the crate easily, doesnt tilt, and the metal bowl is easy to remove from the plastic holder. Luckily my dog hasnt tried to chew the plastic parts (yet?). Ill be buying another to replace his existing food bowl.
Mine looks used but overall its a cute product. The pink plastic on the bottom is scratched up and the metal insert has black smudges. Not happy about that but a new one is probably 5 stars.
I bought this bowl for my large (Cockatoo) parrot // a use it was never intended for. I had two problems:
1) The stainless steel bowl doesnt click or lock in in any way. It just sits there by gravity. My parrot loves a challenge, and it took him about ten seconds to flip it out, spilling the water
2) The slot in the threaded mounting peg is too narrow for my parrots cage. Without using the slot, there is nothing to keep the bowl horizontal
The product seems to be well made and should work better when used as intended
Second, the stainless steel doesnt snap or lock int
Good in theory if you have a normal dog, but overpriced in my opinion. I wouldnt recommend for resistant crate trainers. I was hoping this would solve the spilled water problem but it just doesnt tighten enough to stay in place when my puppy got severe cabin fever in her crate (to be fair we did leave her in there for a full 10 minutes ). This would be good though for dogs who dont mind the crate and just need a water dish out of the way.
I used this in my dogs crate, everyday it would be thrown about the crate the plastic part chewed. Not just the metal bowl, he would get the whole contraption unscrewed from the crate. Its a great product, just doesnt work for my dog.
