This is great for my two grandsons who are 3 and 5. We bought them the loft bed version with the stairs, not the ladder, and put a full-sized foam mattress on the floor underneath, like a twin-full bunk bed. We chose this loft bed because it is low so if one of the kids jumps or rolls out, they dont have far to fall and the full bed underneath adds about a foot more cushion to break a fall.
That being said, with a 10 twin foam mattress on top, there is still plenty of railing extending high enough to prevent accidental rolling out of bed, so thats another plus.
The stairs are safe for even our youngest grandson to climb on - he is just over 1.
The only downside is that one of the parts of the stair railing arrived broken and we had to use wood glue to assemble it. Overall, including the wood glue, it took about three hours for two people to assemble. Even with the broken part, the price was right and the finished product is everything we hoped it would be. Great looking and very sturdy.
This bunk bed looks great! We love the black wood. It can later turn into 2 separate beds, so I believe that alone makes it a great return on investment. Assembled in about 3 hours.
Best bed ever!! Slide is very sturdy for my 3 year old. Its low enough to wake her easily in the morning and the storage space underneath is perfect! It took my husband 3 hours to put together.
Overall a pretty good bed. It was easy to assemble outside of the dresser. The dresser did not come together correctly. The directions were easy to follow but the predrilled holes did not match up. After everything was assembled it does not seem as durable as some other bunk beds we looked. For the price it is good.
Just get a good mattress. We did not and that decreases my satisfaction. The kids (6 and 3) love this bunk bed and the cubbies to hide things away. The bottom trundle bed is not on a track. Its on wheels setting on the floor, so it can be a little frustrating to get it aligned so it will slide back under the bottom bunk. The assembly is time consuming, you will need space and two people at minimum.

Love the gray color, very sturdy and good quality. It did take some time to assemble so pack your patience, but worth it in the end!
