Packaged to be shipped to the moon, lots of packaging to dispose of once you put it together, but not a strach or mark, so not complaining. It is very nice for the price we paid. It is going in a guest room with minimum use and looks great.
The bed is nice overall. Easy to assembly, decent looking, cozy and clean feeling.
Tip: do not over screw for the support in the foundation, otherwise the hardware could tear off from wood.
The bed assembles in about an hour or two and the directions were easy enough. It is an attractive piece that looks exactly as it does in the photos, and is good quality for the price.
Here are the negatives, which are nit-picky:
The piece is not solid wood and its paint is somewhat thin and easy to scratch, so be careful when assembling. Try not to slide your box springs over the black finish because even that will scratch.
The headboard comes in two pieces and is bracketed together. I thought it would seem flimsy, but it goes together okay. There remains a slight gap between the two pieces on mine on one side, but its not that noticeable.
The cross boards that go under the box springs/mattress come with tiny support legs, which are useless and fall out if you move the bed even slightly once your mattress is in place. But this has not caused a problem so far.
Overall, I am satisfied and will likely purchase additional products from the Bedford family.
You cant beat this bed for the price. I was VERY surprised at the quality of the wood structure and the finish. Its a hair lower than I would have liked, but with a box spring and thick mattress it is fine.
Bottom line, for the money, this cant be beat.
This is a great bed, and a great deal. I received the bed within a week. The bed came in three boxes, and I was very impressed with the packing. I have bought way more expensive items not packed even close to how well the bed was packaged. It was very easy to assemble, took about one hour. I am also very impressed with the quality of the workmanship. Every corner, every edge matched perfectly when assembled. They even included one extra of every nut, bolt, and screw. It is made of solid wood, no particle board. I am 64, 280lbs, and I can tell you this is a solid, sturdy bed. Not a squeak from this bed, even with vigorous activity. I have a 14 memory foam mattress, any smaller I recommend a foundation. I bought six 10, 1 x 4s from Home Depot and had them cut in half to 60 to make a slat platform base. It worked great. It is also a beautiful bed to look at.
First of all, in case you came to this bed via a search that also includes reviews for the King and Full versions of this product, like I did, the queen panel bed in ebony is what it says it is. It comes in three boxes: the headboard, the footer, and the slats.
Second of all, this is NOT a panel bed like described. There are THREE slats... not enough to hold a mattress on its own. Also, the headboard begins far too high to be used as a panel bed anyway--you would have a gap above your mattress before your headboard started. We intended to use this as a panel bed, but ended up going out and getting a foundation the same night we put it together so we could sleep on it.
We got a 9 inch foundation, which puts our 11 inch mattress up pretty high, but we like that. Most people would probably be happier with a 5 inch foundation as its easier to get in and out of that way.
This bed, so far, seems to be fairly supportive of my size. Im a 6 3 340 pound man. Im a big guy. The bed has not fallen apart under my weight as of yet. And sex doesnt destroy it either.
There has been one snap of wood when sitting on the bed, but it wasnt this bed, it was the wood in my foundation. Im not sure if thats due to the foundation sitting poorly on the bed, or if its due to the foundation being poorly made, or if its just because Im a heavy guy. With that said, when we put our foundation on the bed frame, it did seem to be slightly small and short compared to the space provided for it. Not sure if thats normal or if this bed is built slightly bigger than it should be for a queen.
Overall, Im happy with it. It looks great in our bedroom.
Oh, one last thing.. beware the edges of the footer. Ive scrapped my leg on it (through pj pants), and my wife has given herself numerous bruises.
Update 5/2/15:
Three years later and I am now 370 pounds and my side of the bed sags tremendously. I cant blame the quality of the bed, but the bed is the source of the sagging. The center pole holding up the middle slat has bent and broken off, and weve been supporting it with a support the same height at the pole and about half the length of the slat.
But despite supporting the bed that way, the ridge that holds the mattress/foundation that runs along side the main sidings supports have broken and this is what is causing the sagging.
Overall this bed seems very well built, but ultimately could not support a very large man. My wifes side of the bed is holding up perfectly.
I knew I wanted a black queen size bed for my guest room but I had a lot of trouble finding one (in-stock) in town and had company coming. Yikes! came thru with super-fast shipping via UPS and a great product.
Ive never purchased a large furniture item online sight unseen but I took a chance because of the positive reviews and the great price.
I ordered this bed in ebony and the finish is nice. It has just enough shine - more than a matte but less than a high-gloss. Putting it together was easy enough for me (54 female) to do myself. All of the screw holes were pre-drilled and the screws go into metal not wood which makes for easy assembly. All the pieces were well labeled and the directions were simple to follow. Everything lined up nicely and I simply placed the box under the end I was not working on to hold everything in line. I assembled this myself in under an hour.
One thing I do want to mention is what came with the bed since it was a little unclear from the other reviews. I ordered the Nomad Platform Bedframe in Ebony. I received one tall headboard, one short footboard and two side rails in ebony finish. I ALSO received three slats in an oak color to go under the mattress. I didnt like how the mattress felt being put right on the slats because there was too much space in between. I simply went to the home improvement store and had three more slats cut and put those down. Now, the bed is great and comfortable even without a box spring under the mattress.
I would definitely recommend this product! Thanks !

Beautiful! great product!
The bed was easy to assemble and looks amazing...so many people have asked if it came from Pottery Barn. Love it!

Very Pleased worth every penny
You cant beat this bed for the price. I was VERY surprised at the quality of the wood structure and the finish. Its a hair lower than I would have liked, but with a box spring and thick mattress it is fine. Bottom line, for the money, this cant be beat.

This bed worth the price. The product is awesome. You you compare it with others on the market you will understand it.
