    Fabulous chair!

This is an awesome chair! First, it is big. I mean wide and deep. I guess I should have figured that out from the photos, since it looks the the arms were almost pushed down like wings. Plus, it has a part that juts out in the back. I am not sure why that it is there, but it is very nice to look at when you have it in the middle of the room (rather than a simple back that looks like an afterthought of design.) It is modern. I thought it might blend well into my more traditional/transitional stuff in my den, but it doesnt. I do have a big landing (its like 7x14) on my stairs where I have a bookshelf and an empty corner. This looks like a perfect item for there to sit in an read by the window. I am not really looking forward to hauling up up those stairs though because it is sort of oddly shaped and unwieldy. I tipped it on its side to slide it through the doorway into the room it is in now. The fabric is very nice. A soft felt like material. Almost reminds you of a mans suit when you touch it. I didnt think I would like that the arms were so low. And it is true that you dont really rest your elbows on the arms. But I must say that when I first sat in it, I didnt want to get up. It is deep and the back angled a little, so it is relaxing. And the width gives you a sense of space. It almost reminds you of sitting in the middle of a loveseat without having to share it. It is like your area. And it isnt like a seat with no arms where you have to hold them in your lap or cross them and generally be uncomfortable, the arms are just lower ...like for your wrists and hands. Much more comfy than I expected. It almost reminds you of something you would see in a lobby of a modern hotel or something. I have always loved modern design. I have wanted iconic things like Le Corbustier chairs, Barcelona chairs, Noguchi coffee tables. However they are expensive (unless you get a copy), and my love of old houses have made those things incompatible. This is a little foray into that world. It comes completely assembled....which is great. The box is giant...almost like a loveseat sized box. It was covered in a protective fabric-like layer then another layer of bubble wrap. It was in perfect condition. I opened the top of the box and realized it was too big for me to lift out. I didnt want to cut the box on the sides as I was worried I might nick the fabric. What I did was to tip it over on its side, open the bottom of the box, tip it back then lift the box off of the chair. Much easier that way. I have attached photos to hopefully help you get a sense of it. I should have put something on it for perspective of size. I tried my cat, but she is so fat that it made the chair seem smaller than it was! ha ha!! Please note that I KNOW it doesnt fit with the (kind of ugly) style that room correctly. Maybe I just need to dump those ugly old chairs, get a more modern rug and another one of these! It is very lovely even just to look at. I had a more modern couch that would have been nice with this, but it got taken to college by my kids and I was stuck with wingback chairs in the empty space (taken from my bedroom.) This is MUCH nicer and it actually makes my other furniture look ugly now. You can see one in the background of my photo and notice that this is so much wider than it (what was I thinking with damask!?) It is modern (especially with the chrome legs) but could work with transitional type of stuff, too...and if you are clever, maybe with matching colors, you could get it to work with more traditional stuff. Or just say who cares about that crap and put whatever furniture you like, wherever you want! Youll totally love this chair, though, I am telling you.
