I like the sturdiness, hated the packaging! Way to much styrofoam to protect it, and get rid of it.
Instructions are mostly clear, using as my primary bed with single mattress. Was surprised by quality of fasteners, well thought out! Would get another one for spare room.
It took me four hours to setup this bed, the quality is good, the disadvantage is that it is too difficult to assemble, all the nails are not separated, and the nails are distributed according to the feeling.
This thing is perfect. The simple design is beautiful and the contrast is of wood against the black steel is very aesthetically pleasing, and not something you see everyday. I have actually received a lot of compliments on it.
As far as construction, this frame is legit. Very high quality materials, heavy duty, and sturdy. I did want to to mention that after about 2 months of having the frame it started to squeak every time I got on, off or changed position. Thought about oiling the rivets, but decided to tighten everything first. 2 minutes of tightening all the bolts with an Allen wrench is all it took and it hasnt squeaked again since (about 5 or 6 months). Id assume this happens to most of the frames as it gets broken in, theres a little of slack in the bolts and it just takes a little tightening to end the squeaking.
As far as getting intimate (because lets be real, you all plan to, or at least hope), this thing is great. The headboard is very sturdy and wont slam against your wall, so theres no need for the pillow between the wall and the headboard. Already mentioned that tightening the bolts well fixes the squeaking. And the open headboard allows for great leverage, no matter the position.
Ive read a lot of reviews complaining about assembling the frame, but dont let that scare you off. While it was a little more complicated than I thought it would be, it wasnt that difficult; it just takes a little attention to detail. If you possess a little patience and an ounce of intelligence (which Im assuming you do if youre still reading this review), you can figure it out. And just know that once its assembled, its assembled forever.
I bought this frame for our guest bedroom. It matched a night stand that I already had perfectly. I was surprised at the quality and ease of assembly. Im glad I purchased it.
When they dumped the box on my porch, and I do mean DUMPED, the box was falling apart and pieces were falling out, luckily I was home when it was delivered and was able to collect everything before it rolled/blew away.There were quite a few nicks and scratches all over the bed frame but not enough to make it worth sending it back. Once it is put together it is nice looking (minus the small dings and nicks) and good for the price.
Maybe has set my standards too low, but that was seriously the best experience I have ever had putting together flat pack furniture. The instructions are practically a work of art, and every joint you had to make was labeled on both sides with a sticker indicating the step number it belonged to. It would be impossible to put this together wrong, unless you actually tried to. They even included a ratcheting tool to help drive the bolts when they are in a corner, and they threw in a bunch of spare parts!
And the design is well thought out too - the slats velcro to the base so they dont slide, and there is grip tape on the other side so the mattress stays put.
Whoever designed this clearly spent the time to do it right, and I really appreciate that. I give kudos to the graphic designer who made the instructions, and the engineer who designed the parts. They clearly set out to give the buyer the best possible experience, and they absolutely achieved it.
