I ordered two of these (grey and white) for a 6 and 8 year old. They love them. I built them both in about 5 hours total over two days. You dont need two people though it would help and save some time. Id recommend using your own Allen key set to torque down the bolts as tight as possible. The provided key will slip and destroy your hand. The bed is solid once fully assembled. It does have a slight side to side wobble (about an inch) as with most 5 foot loft beds out there under 500. Id recommend to anyone looking to save and still provide a sturdy structure that will last. Add Pool noodles to cushion the steps and dont cry about no entry at the top. My kids get over it easily with no help and its safer imo. Even with an 8 mattress, plenty of support bar to hold the kids in at night.
Nice sturdy bunk bed. I bought it for my daughter to take to college. It came in an 8'x10x20'(aprox)box ,110lbs. The only drawback was it took me 3 1/2 hrs to assemble and I'm very good a putting things together. That's why I only gave it 4 stars. Dont know about about long term durability yet.
It wasnt hard to understand the instruction. Very clear illustrations and everything was labled. There were just ALOT of pieces to assemble.
It's not an 'open box and snap together' product. If you dont mind spending a couple of hrs putting it together I would highly recommend it.
Worth the money! I was hesitant at first due to the price as well as the reviews claiming their product came damaged or bent/angled/crooked - I only had a few minutes on my lunch break to run home and take my package inside before some crook stole it - I opened up the box right away to check out the shelf. It was so quick and easy to put together didnt take more than 30 seconds to snap it together and hook it on my sons jr loft bed. DHP and WE furniture ought to team up and sell these babies with the loft beds!! It is such a great addition to my sons bed and Im so glad cause now he can keep his remote a book and a glass of water his iPad and a box of kleenex right at his reach. Its also going to come in handy for his late night nebulizer treatments I am so glad I went ahead and ordered this product. There were similar products but most were designed to slide under a mattress and/or were flimsy looking plastic or wooden which did not seem like it would hook onto a metal loft bed frame. This little device was made for the rounded metal railings of metal bunk/loft beds alike. It is the perfect size I know some people stated it was smaller than expected but I truly believe it fitting a good 20oz cup, 3 remotes an iPad books and a Kleenex box is more than enough and super convenient! The basket is way bigger than I expected so its a win for me. I couldnt be more pleased at the ease of the entire design from packaging to assembly to aesthetic. It is sturdy! the metal is pretty heavy duty but it is stable and not too heavy for the metal railing of the loft bed. You will not be disappointed, its money well spent. My son was excited to see it already put up when he got home from school - he knows how I am I usually have his dad put things together because Im not the assembler here never played with legos so if I can snap it together within 10 seconds and have it on my sons bed in another 15 seconds so can you!
Love this bed! Its a huge space saver, and looks so chic! My niece LOVES it, and the desk is huge and has so much space for her to do her homework, draw, paint etc. It did take us several hours to put together, but its not difficult. Bought one for my nephew also... putting his up soon! Wont take as long, since weve put one up and now know what to expect!
Excellent product for the money. Our 3rd bedroom is tiny and this was an answer for our teenager! Now he sits at his desk under the bed and has plenty of room to talk with friends and family. (He's 6'2 by the way.) The bed is extremely stout and secure. I would order it again for sure!
This is a fairly good looking Futon bunk bed. I chose this model because it uses square tubing for the frame instead of round. The top bunk is about 12 inches deep so could be used to store miscellaneous items with or without a mattress. This is what I use it for to store lots of boxes since there is not much room underneath the bottom bunk. Assembly is pretty straightforward but there are some errors in the assembly instructions. For example at the end of the manual it says you could lock the bottom in the bed position with the optional hook but in reality the hooks provided are not long enough. The quality of this frame is fair and I didn't have any missing parts or hardware. The hex wrench and hex screws are ok but you have to be careful not to strip the hex holes. Also don't over tighten the bolts because you risk rounding out said hex holes. This is important should you ever need to disassemble the bed in the future. The threaded holes in the frame pieces are fairly strong and do not strip easily since they are reinforced. Switching from couch to bed is not too difficult since the springs are low tension but you may have to put in more effort if using a thick Futon mattress since they are more difficult to fold. Overall I'm quite happy with this bunk bed. The full size bottom Futon is very convenient and sometimes I just leave it in the couch position and sleep. I chose the
Came ontime. Took about an hour and half to build. Strong assembly and has a lot of saftey features. Big enough underneath to fit a computer desk and storage undwr it. The only thing a little bad is when climbing in it it does sway if you don't bolt to wall.
Plan on at least three hours to build this bed. The instructions are fairly clear, but take a moment to make sure the screw holes line up or else you're bound to unscrew components that you previously assembled. There is a part where you have to put together the mattress support for the top bunk. The instructions make it seem painless and simple. I recommend using a hammer to insert these plastic snaps and even then it still is an incredibily long process and painful if you start using your hands. With all that being said...the bed is extremely comfortable and sturdy. A 200 lb guy slept in the top bunk and there were no scary moments. Good buy if you have time and a friend to help you build.
Delivery:
If you purchase the version with the workstation, it will come in two separate boxes - one for the bed and one for the workstation. For us, the workstation arrived first, and the bed came a day later.
Assembly:
When it comes to assembling, the directions were perfectly accurate, simple, and clear. Make extra sure the holes line up to where they show them in the picture. Take breaks and make sure you stay fresh while you put it together so you don't miss anything. That being said, it really wasn't the worse thing in the world to have to dismantle part of it to fix my mistake.
Sturdiness:
I did a lot of research before choosing this bed. I'd say it's lived up to the reviews. It is generally a sturdy bed for my soon-to-be 9 year old. It feels a bit wobbly when I climb on it (5'8, 140lbs), so I probably wouldn't recommend it for adults. It does come with two L brackets to brace it to the wall. However, the brackets do not reach the wall if you have baseboards, which most people do.
Usability:
We purchased the version that comes with the workstation. It seems like good solid wood for the table and shelves and it is a lot of space. Due to the slight wobbliness, though, things get moved around when my daughter climbs up and down and moves around on the bed. It's not a good place to put your drink if someone is using the bed part, but otherwise is fine. We are pleased
