has survived a move and several kids using it like a jungle gym

This bed has survived a move and several kids using it like a jungle gym. A few screws have become lose and even came out along the way BUT my kids put it through a lot of abuse. And my husband just has replaced the screws. At no time has it seemed unsafe though and is more sturdier than I thought. We will need to purchase another bunk bed in the future due to our growing family and I will probably go with this one or this style again. We have a small home, and this does not take up as much space as a wooden bunk bed would. If you have a small house or small rooms, I would def go with this one.

they are sturdy and provide lots of space

As pictured, they are sturdy and provide lots of space. My only reason for not submitting 5 stars is that the rungs hurt the feel. We used 3/4 pipe foam (looks like a skinny pool noodle) to wrap around each rung, and then tapped securely with black duct tape for a sleek look. It is working very well and the kids appreciate the comfort on the feet.

Great / read reviews and recommendations

Im going to jump right to it. Great purchase. If the bed is going to go into a room with a fan, make sure that you either have a big enough room where the fan is not an issue, or dont turn the fan on. Here are some of the helpful tips that other reviewers wrote to help out others. 11 is especially important and VERY true. Recommendations for assembly: 1. Read the Assembly Instruction a couple of time BEFORE beginning. 2. Inventory all parts BEFORE beginning – incase there are missing/extra parts. 3. DONT TIGHTEN ANYTHING UNTIL AFTER FULLY ASSEMBLED / Having some play/movement allows you to get parts properly aligned/assembled with NO hassle. 4. Test the threads with a screw BEFORE aligning assembling 2 parts / if the screw goes into the thread with no load, then you should be able to hand tighten the screw when aligning and assembling 2 parts 5. Dont install the cross bars until the frame is fully assembled. This will make fixing issues (which point 2 will help you avoid) much easier. 6. Be sure the upper cross bar (Part H) has the small screw holes facing DOWN. 7. USE A FLATHEAD SCREWDRIVER TO PUSH ONE SIDE OF PART 8 INSTEAD OF A HAMMER OR FINGER PRESSURE 8. When you put a Mattress Support (Part O) in place, push in the small Plastic Part 8 at both ends of Part O. DONT put all Mattress Supports (Part O) in place (there are 44 of them) then go back try to install all 88 of the small plastic Part 8 at the same time because youll have a difficult time getting a good angle with the flathead screwdriver to push one side in while trying to hold the other side of Part 8 at the same time. 9. AFTER fully assembling, NOW GO AROUND TIGHTEN ALL THE SCREWS. 10. The instructions do no indicate that the side where you will be attaching the ladder needs to be facing a certain direction or it wont work. 11. Important: The top of the ladder attaches to the upper frame via a bolt. The frame has a small threaded hole to accept that bolt. The hole MUST be on the bottom side of the upper frame. If the hole is on the top, you messed up and the ladder wont connect correctly.

    Affordable and useful...

This bed frame was what I was looking for and it works fine. The only drawback was all the pieces that were needed to put it together...

Aming! My daughters love the new steel fortress

Aming. incredible, solid, sturdy, attractive, go for it youll love it. Im at the expert handyman level, I used my bosch 12v right angle drill with all the right attachments, a small hobby rubber mallet (for popping in the plastic clips) and my daughters help... but it still took exactly two hours! I was hoping to post a record time but it does take two hours, luckily it is very easy to assemble. This was my best purchase of the year. its a solid bunk bed that could hold 250 pounds on top and 300 and the bottom (yes we tested it). Im thinking of adding some pipe insulators to the steps so they are softer on the feet but I dont want anything that will slip and rotate so Im leaving it alone for now.

Hardeware and instructions missing from box

The bed arrived in a box that had clearly been opened and patched back together. Only half of the hardware was included and there were no assembly instructions. We found the assembly instructions online, but do not have the hardware needed to assemble the bed.

I ordered a back bed, this one is white! Im sure it will work the same when put together, but its too much of a pain in the butt for me to send this back, so I guess Im stuck with it. Dang.

Im very happy with this product

Im very happy with this product. I bought 2 sets for my son and daughter and it was very easy to assemble although there were a lot of parts. The instructions were easy to follow. It took me and my wife about 5 hours to assemble two of these. I used the L brackets that came with it to anchor it to the wall (where the studs were) and it is very stable. My kids are pretty ecstatic about their new beds.
