This bed is great for the price. My son loves it. He is 7 and it is perfect for him. I did need to anchor it to the wall for security and the other reviewers who complain about the ladder rungs hurting their feet are correct. But, for my son, it works great.
My two middle sons sleep on this bed. They love the way it looks. I thought, from reading reviews, that it would be sturdier than it actually is. I can make it shake, but it is decently solid. For the price, I would purchase it again. Like others have said, the ladder hurts my feet, but my 7 year old doesnt complain at all. I plan on getting the pipe insulation foam to try to ease this a little.
Unlike most bunk bed owners, Im not a parent, but rather a college student sharing a 100/square/foot bedroom with a roommate in an apartment. We found that this was a great way to fit two beds in the cramped space. For $100 each, it was quite affordable. Im a little unusual in that I only weigh 115 lbs., so even a bed designed for children could support me on the top bunk, but from what Ive seen of this bed, its sturdy enough that a 140/ or 150/pound person could occupy the top bunk safely. Unsurprisingly, the frame isnt totally rigid; the joints certainly flex a fair amount when you climb up or turn over. But this is normal for any self/assembled bunk bed that doesnt cost a fortune, and its never in danger of buckling or tipping.
Most of the assembly is quite easy. The parts fit together very well and the instructions are very good. But one of the very last steps involves securing the many metal slats that support the mattresses. This is done with little plastic pieces that have to be popped into place in the hole above the slat. Unfortunately, they are extraordinarily difficult and extremely painful to press into place, and many of the pieces simply do not fit, period. We ended up using a pocketknife to shave a small strip off the bottom of the pieces that wouldnt go in, which at least allowed them to fit / somewhat less securely in many cases / but it was still quite painful to pop them into place. That was a major blemish on an otherwise very smooth assembly process.
The hellishness of the plastic pieces is the only reason Im giving the bed four stars instead of five. Especially for the price, the bed is excellent.
I originally received it and it was missing 2 important pieces, which i didnt realize till I was well into set up. Had to request new pieces, they arrived. I again went to try and set it up and they gave me 2 of the same piece, so I was missing another important piece. Still waiting for this to be resolved. Wish I would have just spent the extra money on a different product
Best price anywhere. Took some time to set it up, but instructions led you through it with NO extra parts. Grandsons love it. Well constructed. Would recommend for any childs room.
The assembly was reasonable, 1 person 3 hours.
The quality of the product and finish is very good. The accuracy of the fit was
terrific and a real surprise. I give the product and project 5 stars and so do
my grandsons.
The bed comes in a zillion pieces, the pieces didnt line up correct on the frame. Took my husband well over 3 1/2 hours to put together and he had to drill into the metal to make it work. For the price I guess what did we expect. Next time we will just suck up and buy the fully assembled item so we know all the pieces fit together.
Very pleased with the quality of this frame. It is sturdy and feels safe, no wobbles. Nice finish, I recommend if you are looking for a simple space saving bunk bed.
The bed legs do not need protectors. The legs come protected.
One word of advice on assembly: There are no instructions, just diagrams. The diagrams are plentiful enough, just be careful. For example; When assembling the bed ends make sure the unused holes are facing inboard, and regarding the end safety rails, make sure the ladder holes are in the right place. Otherwise the ends might need reversing.
The bed is strong, brown not black, but thats okay. The hardware kit is amble and two Allen wrenches are included. Nothing else is needed. Again, do not tighten bolts until assembly is assured.
I laid the parts out on a concrete driveway and worked slowly. Once the ends are assembled, move to the room where the bed will be. Assembly took about 4 hours.

Good bed at a good price, but assembly is somewhat painful

Nice design
Reasonably stable. The only complaint, the ladder rungs are hard on the feet, being so narrow. It would be nice to provide a matching set of pads.
