Its pretty solid but I gave it a four because some of screws for the ladder and a few wooden pegs were missing probably due to poor packaging or poor handling. Instructions arent difficult in my opinion. However, they are only pictures, for those of us that do like to read instructions. I will say this though, if you have stairs that wrap around...be sure to set up the beds INSIDE the room that you want them in. Probably wasnt the smartest move on my part to put em together downstairs in my living room then try to manuever them upstairs but I dont anyone else to make the same mistake. I had to practically disassemble both beds and build them back up in the room where I wanted them..nightmare
Amazing, really love it We got it for our daughters and it took a few hours to assemble. Once up, it looks just like the picture and we are happy. We just wished we has sprayed the supporting slabs beneath the top bunk to avoid splinters which did happen. Aside from that, its a great value for the price and love that we could make this into two twin in the future.
Great deal!! High quality and great design! Pros:
- Sturdy; my husband and I have been on the top bunk (1 at a time, of course!). We did cut 2 sheets of plywood to put on top of the slats to make it even more steady and solid, as our kids mattresses were thin (from ). With thicker mattresses, Im sure just using the slats would be fine.
- Good instructions; easy to assemble, but still took myself and husband a good part of a day to get it all together just cuz of all the pieces involved.
- Nice color (we ordered the chocolate one)
- Like that the ladder was interchangeable--can put it on either side. And, the ladder didnt come out from the bed and take up more space in the room. Nice space-saving feature!
Cons:
- The finish isnt as great as they claim. The stupid stickers they put to label the parts wouldnt come off very easily, and many of them took the stain/finish off when we tried to take the stickers off. Annoying!
- The wood is VERY soft, so it must be cheap pine. So, claim that it is solid wood is a bit deceiving. Yes, it is wood...not particle board. But, it is not high-quality wood. We knicked the bed a few times putting things together and getting our plywood in-place. I could make dents in it with my finger nails.
- Becuz of the cheap wood, I am disappointed with the price. It should have been cheaper than $300. Think about it: $150 per bed--thats not cheap...at least, not for us. But, in pricing other beds out...this one seemed in-line with other ones that had poorer reviews for stability. Safety was 1 for us for our kids, so we went for this one seeing that other reviews stated it was nice and solid/sturdy. So far, I agree!
Keep up the good work,i will buy your products again!!!!!! The instructions were very clear and the bed was easy to assemble. it looks good and the kids love it.
Just received the WE bunk bed (espresso) and put it together. First impression: its beautiful. Its a smart looking piece of furniture. Very good space above and below. Its a bargain at its price when you compare to other bunk beds. The one watch-out is assembly. It can require more effort than you realize.
Dimensions: We have 8 foot ceilings. This bunk bed fits the bedroom easily. It also replaces our previous twin bed frame, and occupies the same footprint in the room.
Quality and finish: We also looked at Land of Nod. Theres a beautiful bunk bed there...that costs $1,200 more than this one! The look and quality of this bed is terrific. Its quite sturdy. And its price is amazing.
Shipping: We have Prime, which should have meant 2-day shipping. It was scheduled to arrive on a Thursday, but actually arrived on Friday. Not a big deal, but FYI. Arrived in one big, long box. The box is very heavy. I actually helped the FedEx worker to bring it into my house.
Assembly: Im not a frequent handyman, but can learn directions with enough patience. My father-in-law is more handy. Together, we put it together. Total time: 4.5 hours. Yes, it took a while. The directions are good, spelled out in 12 steps. As an irregular handyman, I would have struggled with the barrel nuts in Steps 5 and 7, but my father-in-law figured those out (need to hold them in place with a screwdriver). The directions do indicate that you need a Philips head screwdriver. But if you have a drill, that helps. It made screwing the mattress support slats (Steps 6 and 8) much easier.
What added time to the assembly at the end was the ladder. Its the final piece (Step 12). Two issues extended the time it took. First, the holes in the ladder, where its to be attached to the bed, are too small for the screws. So we opened them up with a drill bit. Then there were the holes in the bunk bed frame where the screws go through to attach to the ladder. They were blocked by some of the mattress support slats (Steps 6 and 8). So we unscrewed the offending slats, attached the ladder, then reattached the slats.
It did take some effort, but we did it. Its a great reward to see the bunk bed up, kids are thrilled with it. We now have opened up a lot of space in their bedroom, which will be filled with desks.
Recommended. 4 stars due to the assembly being a bit more challenging. But very positive about this piece of furniture.
great value for the money, great quality Bought these for my grandchildren. Easy to put together. Took 2 of us about 30 minutes (women - no men!). Fit together great only 1 part split out when screwing together. I e-mailed the seller and they sent a replacement right away. Kids love them and they are working great for us. Kids ages 9, 6, 5. We adults have got on the beds and they seem very sturdy.
Its small but so cute and comfy! My 5 and 2 1/2 year old LOVE the bunk bed! It is very sturdy and the perfect size for young boys. One of the things that attracted me to this item was that the ladder was attached, creating more play space in the room AND not allowing my boys to detach the ladder. My husband did have to drill a few holes a little deeper for the bolts to fit all the way, but other than that it was an easy build.
Looks lovely in our house we were looking for a bunk bed that also separated and we werent disappointed. this is a great value and color--so shocked. it came really quickly and was easy to put together. note that it recommends 6 mattresses--i should have read that.
Would buy again and truly recommend! First, let me say that this is real wood, and it is a SOFT wood, subject to dings and scratches. My two year old was helping me and my husband put this together with his little pretend screwdriver and wooden wrench, and made some dings on the wood... oh well.
Secondly, the allen wrench that comes with this set is horrid. Get yourself a better one to build this bed before you get too far. Makes all the difference.
Besides these things, I LOVE THIS BED. Sturdy, beautiful, and easy to put together if you follow the instructions.
The instructions specifically state using a 6 inch mattress for both beds.
Great bed!
Super comfortable you wont want to get up! We visit my parents a couple of times a year and use this bed as a set up and take down. Very sturdy and solid. We replaced it with a metal bunk bed that we mistakenly bought last year. Always go with wood! Very pleased and our son and daughter were able to share a room and sleep soundly for a couple of weeks, no problems nor complaints.
