This bed is super cute. It definitely took two people to get it put together but didnt take more than an hour. Once put together the bed seems a little wobbly. The 160 pound weight limit might be generous. Works well for an 8 year old.
I am very happy with this purchase. My daughters bedroom is pretty small and this will definitely help maximize her space. It took a total of about 3 hours to put together. It feels solid and sturdy. There were no missing pieces and every piece was in good condition. The price here on tends to go up and down frequently, so watch it in your cart for a few days to get the best price. Delivery was on time as well.
Whoever designed the manufacturing and packaging of this loft bed has a mind like a computer. A remarkably efficient package. There was not an extra screw or piece of packing material to be found. Every piece lined up without exception. Id give the directions a B-. If you have more than a thimble of mechanical ability you should have no trouble assembling it.
Cons:
The price jumps around daily. I pulled the trigger at $327.50. Ive seen it go over $600. I think its a good value anywhere in the range.
I did have two double threaded metal sleeves pull out of the wood. The threads are opposite on the outside and fit the attached screws (righty tighty) on the inside threads. I figured out by using a small screw I could replace them into their fittings easily.
Also, I did benefit from a rubber mallet assembling the large desk piece, and an electric drill installing the slats.
Rubber wood, this is the first time Ive heard of it or used it. Its soft like pine. Thats not a bad thing, its just not hardwood. for those who mentioned smell, it briefly had the smell of painted wood Exactly what you would expect. Regarding imperfections, I found the product well manufactured and without functional or notable cosmetic issues. If youre looking for perfect drop $3000 at a retail store.
We looked and looked at loft beds before picking this one. For the price we are very happy - the quality is good and the bed seems sturdy. I write this more to help you think before you buy to be sure its a good fit for you as loft beds to pose some challenges.
1. Are you comfortable standing on a ladder while you change sheets/make the bed?
2. Consider buying a table accessory that attaches to the frame for your child to keep a bottle of water or books, etc
3. Be prepared to tag team with someone if you have to put your child to bed after theyve fallen asleep - someone up top in the bed and someone below to hand the child up.
4. Talk to your child about whether they will be comfortable sleeping up that high - not afraid.
The first two we thought of before we bought the bed and thought the advantage of more play space out weighed the inconvenience, but we didnt think about the last two things. I think we would have still gone with it, but just something to think about.
Everything came in two shipments—both earlier than I expected—a week earlier.
Everything was well made, and labeled. It took my dad and me about 2-3 hours to put it together, and that included us putting one whole section together backwards and then redoing it.
My son absolutely LOVED his surprise.
We bought 2, Kids love their loft beds. A downside was that some of the pieces had screwholes so close to edge that it would split the piece once screw would go in. Also the wooden cog holes were on the smaller side so made connecting pieces difficult and caused cracks in some of the pieces.

Kids love it; hardware holes poorly made/placed
