Our boxes arrived in great condition, no damage in the outside. So I was not expecting the scratches and dents that we found on just about every board. I am not happy with the condition it arrived it, though all the damage seems to be cosmetic so far.
On another note, the assembly instructions were very easy to follow and all the pieces were clearly labeled. Its the only reason to give a couple of stars to it
Beautifully finished, real wood construction. Easy to assemble due to coherent instructions. Hardware and each piece of lumber clearly marked to streamline assembly without confusion. If youre used to assembly, this was a delightful process by comparison. It took two people about 9 hours and some space to assemble. The drawers and trundle move perfectly! This is an excellent product.
This is a nice quality bed and a very good price for a SOLID WOOD bed. I refuse to buy pressed board furniture due to the health risks associated with the chemicals they use and this was the perfect alternative. It was pretty easy to put together and I did it by myself. My only critique is that only one of the beds came with a support beam that runs from head to foot of the bed. It has one for the top bunk which makes it very secure but I worry if I were to lay in the bottom bunk to read my kids stories it feels a little flimsy (I weigh 175lbs and my child weighs 30lbs) so that is not really a lot of weight to feel the bed rails flex when you lay down. I wish I had a support beam for the bottom bunk which would take care of this issue and I would have zero complaints otherwise.
Review summarized in two sentencesLooked nice when complete. Poor manufacture workmanship.
Paid several hundred dollars for this bed and expected better quality. Took about 8 hours to complete working with four other people.
Connecting Dowels: Found many dowels were undersized or not straight. Several dowels were at least 1/8 undersized and would fall out. Had to glue them in place. Were frustrated with the assembly.
Support cross beams: They were not all the same lengths. Many of them barely reach the opposite side.
3 support posts: They are not even one solid piece. Instead they were three separate pieces glued together. All other pieces were one solid piece of wood. Strange that these support posts were fabricated in this manner. I would think, cutting one solid 3 x 3 to the proper length would be cheaper than gluing and pressing three 1 wide pieces together.
Hardware: They were nicely labeled which came in handy. Do not lost any as there are just exactly enough to complete the assembly. No spare hardware.
A word of caution: Two of the hardware looked identical except the thread pattern. They were B7 and B16. By keeping each hardware in its own bag, I was able to tell them apart.
Prepare for a lengthy build and be ready to spend some time puzzling out the instructions. Youll need some space to spread everything out so you can sort it. Also, the boxes are unclear as to the contents (the steps and the bed are two separate builds) so youll need to unpack them all to figure out what you need. But, i like the bed. Sturdy and solid.
Arrived at the earliest time estimate. 4 boxes, all pretty heavy. Definitely no particle board or cheap parts involved! Stairs come in 2 boxes, bed in 2. Good craftsmanship, heavy-duty construction. Bed was well-packaged (no damaged parts) and easy to assemble.
One note: buy a good hex (Allen) wrench set if you dont already have one. The included tool (3/16 standard Allen wrench) will work, but is too small to really crank down on some of the screws. Didnt need anything other than my Allen wrench and power drill. Could have used included tool and a phillips-head screwdriver, but why make things harder than they could be? Assembly involves mostly wooden pins (pushed in by hand) and brass-colored screws.
Once fully assembled, the bed is sturdy and attractive.
I have not assembled the stairs yet (plan to this evening). Will update further after I do.
Update: Assembled the stairs. Boy this really makes the beds footprint bigger! Had to slide bed to the side about 3 feet to make everything fit. Daughter loves the stairs and the storage under each. They all have anti-skid strips (great idea - thoughts of kids climbing up/down with socks on had me worried). The stair assembly had a great included wrench, much bigger than the bed tool. Did not need to use my own wrench. Still used a power drill (for convenience), but needed nothing other than that, the included tool, and plenty of time. By the way, you can build the stairs to fit on either side of the bunk bed (left or right side), whichever works best for you.
Very happy with the craftsmanship, materials, and assembly. Took a while to put together, but wasnt complicated. Was much bigger assembled than wed planned on, but again, my little girl loves it!
Best Bed Ever!!!! Make sure its NOT delivered by the post office, they didnt want to bring it to my apartment in CA. Post Office wanted me to pick it up, eventually they did bring it, but it was a fight. But, seriously I would still buy again and recommend, it is that great of a bed!
I cannot say enough about this bed! Very easy to assemble and the instructions were very clear. It took about 4 to 5 hours to put together but theres a lot there. What pleased me the most is how sturdy it is.
The only minor complaint I have is the tightening wrench is a little too small.
I really wanted to love this set of bunk bed but I hated the fact that the clearance from the bottom bed to the top bed is too low. Its a pain in the but to get in and out of bed even for my little kids. Its even harder for me When I have to make their beds.

Poor quality - but looked nice when assembled.

Low clearance for bottom bed

Definitely recommend this bunkbed!
My 10yr old daughter loves her new bunk bed! Assembly was easier then we had expected. Very sturdy! Very happy with this purchase.
