This item is great but unfortunately it is not what we needed. My husband had a stroke and needs an electric wheelchair. The scout is too large for him to use in our small house. Cant return the item, but would love to sell it as new and assembled.
it has lousy turning radius. I have to constantly back up, go forward, back up, go forward to even get in a position to turn. also the battery does not like to charge i have had to charge it like 5 separate times for 12 straight hours and it will not hold a charge for very long. we have even changed the battery once and it wont hold a charge long.
Very easy to use and transport. Wouldnt hesitate to buy again. Battery runs low very quickly. Would be good idea to order an extra battery pack with your order.
Love this scooter. Comes apart quickly and is a good size. Seems to have plenty of power on hills. I have a larger 4 wheel scooter that I prefer to the Drive, it is much larger and has a nice big seat and lots of leg space, but it doesnt come apart to store in your trunk so thats why I got this Drive scooter. The Drive is much easier to take on trips around town and we dont need to put the carrier on our van to haul it which is very handy. The only complaint I have is the seat is to short in length and therefore not very comfortable, especially for longer use. But is a very nice scooter for the money and what I needed it for.
I am a very meticulous and orderly type of person. Before buying I thoroughly read ALL THE REVIEWS twice on . Then I felt I was ready to properly handle this product. Once I received it the assembly was easy but it took me 2 full days before I could get this thing to move at all. DONT GET ME WRONG THIS SCOOTER IS PERFECT and I would give it 5 stars. However the owners manual is worthless and is principally of no help on two important things:
1) Front wheels wont turn more than an inch or so ! It took me one day to solve this thanks to a third reading of all the s reviews !
The manual is mute on this subject ! There is a front wheel lock at the bottom of the tiller and I tried to turn it right and left or push it in vain. Finally I pulled it and the wheels unlocked. Neither the knob nor the manual say that you have to PULL it in order to unlock the front wheels.
2) I was still unable to start the scooter on the 2nd day and had to go to a local supplier for help. There is a lever in the back of the scooter to lock or unlock the rear wheels. In order to have the scooter to move I always made sure the wheels were unlocked. Thats logical you would not drive your car with the parking brake on, right ? WRONG! THIS SCOOTER WILL ONLY MOVE WITH THE REAR WHEELS LOCKED ON !
I dont consider myself stupid and I really felt frustrated! You would think that the maker of this product go out of its way to make the experience as unpleasant as possible.
Very disappointed with the hard wheels. This is a portable scooter designed to be disassembled for easy transport. That I would assume means outside. It feels like Im riding a Mattel hot wheels trike. You feel every grain of dirt as you bang bangbang bangbang down the sidewalk. I can only assume they had flat repair in mind but at least give an option such as foam filled or pneumatic. These solid wheels were designed for indoor use only. I went online to see if there any solutions but so far not. Im willing to spend the extra money for pneumatic wheels. Ill have to call . Other than the plastic ride the front end is heavy. I would have to pay more for the 3 wheeled version. The good news is that theres a hitch in the back of the seat frame to add an oversized basket. The little toy basket in front is there in my opinion for profile aesthetics. it is impossible to snap all 3 holding brackets , just the top 2 will fit. The tiller angle lock is a good solid chunk of metal. The tiller panel was nicer than I thought it would be. it has an 8 foot turning radius. Which means switch to the market carts at the door.
1/13/2015 called, no pneumatic or foam wheels available.
